Crochet Herringbone Ponytail Hat....Messy Bun Hat...Free pattern

Herringbone Ponytail Hat

Materials:
--5mm hook
--#4 worsted weight yarn (I used "I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby)

Special Stitches:
--HHDC (Herringbone Half Double Crochet): yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull back through the stitch and the first chain on hook.  Last, yarn over and pull through two remaining loops on the hook.

(Note:  If you prefer to use the Half Double Crochet (HDC) stitch, then that's fine, too.)

--Crab Stitch:  single crochet stitch completed in reverse

--FPHHDC & BPHHDC:  complete the HHDC in the front post and back post of each stitch

Tutorial:  there's a great tutorial on the HHDC and front post\back post stitches at: www.newstitchaday.com

20.  Trim last row with the crab stitch (reverse single crochet).  If you prefer, you can just do a single crochet round.

I love the texture created using the HHDC stitch and invite any questions or comments you may have.

You may make and sale this item.  I just ask that you don't take credit for designing the pattern.  Please link back to my blog.  Kind regards and best wishes!!!

    1. You're welcome and I'm so glad you liked the pattern. I don't think pics really show how pretty the texture of HHDC is. It is one of my favorite stitches to use. Thank you for such a kind and encouraging comment.
